Practical tips
Visa extension: You can extend your visa at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu (Kalikasthan) or Pokhara. Maximum 150 days per calendar year. Extension fee is $3/day.
Land border crossings: Visa on arrival is available at major crossings including Kakarbhitta, Birgunj, Belahiya (Sunauli), Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Mahendranagar.
Children under 10: Free tourist visa (must still apply).
Trekking permits: A visa does not include trekking permits. TIMS card and/or national park entry permits are separate and required for most trekking routes.
