What we collect

AroundTrail collects information you voluntarily provide through the contact form or a package enquiry. A package enquiry can include your name, email, phone number, group size, intended travel dates, date flexibility, budget range, and message. If you create an account, we store your email address and the trips, saved places and check-ins you add to it. If you use the trip-planning chat, we store the messages exchanged in that conversation.

We also collect analytics about how the site is used: which pages are viewed, which searches return nothing useful, and — through session recordings — how visitors move through a page. Anything you type into a form field is replaced with asterisks before the recording leaves your browser, so passwords and the contents of what you type are not captured. Text that is already displayed on a page is recorded as it appears. A recording made while you are signed in therefore shows your account area as you saw it, including your own email address and the addresses of anyone you have shared a trip with, invited, or received an enquiry from, and the recording is labelled with your account’s email address so that we can find it. We also record the time zone and language your browser reports, which tells us roughly what part of the world a visitor is in. We do not record your IP address or look up your location from it.

How we use it

• To respond to your feedback or inquiries.
• To review a package enquiry and connect you with the operator that published that package.
• To understand which content is most useful and improve the site.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, or share it with third parties for marketing purposes. Information in a package enquiry may be shared with the named operator so they can answer it.

How long we keep things

Package enquiries and contact-form messages are retained for up to 24 months, then deleted. Chat conversations are deleted after 90 days. Session recordings are deleted after 30 days. Anything saved to an account is kept for as long as the account exists. You can ask for a copy of your data, or request deletion sooner, through the contact page.

Third-party services

This site is hosted on our own servers, with Cloudflare in front of them. Analytics, including session recordings, run on our own infrastructure rather than a third party’s. We use Google Analytics for aggregate traffic figures. Operator payments and mapping tiles are handled by the providers named at the point you use them. We use no advertising services, and we do not sell or rent your information.

Cookies

Signing in sets a cookie that keeps you signed in; the site cannot work without it. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to recognise a returning browser. We set no advertising cookies.
