Overview

Bhikkhu Sadhana Sthal is a Vipassana meditation centre in Thakre, Dhading — about 36 km west of Kathmandu and roughly 1.5 km from Mahadevbesi Bazaar on the Prithvi Highway. It is a serious practice centre rather than a drop-in class: meditators apply in person, and the centre's trustees decide on admission based on available space and the depth and sincerity of the applicant's practice. Those admitted may practise for a length of stay of their choosing, or the duration the centre permits. The centre runs entirely on dana (generosity) — there is no set fee, and all course and running costs are met by the donations of meditators. Come with a genuine intention to practise, and confirm arrangements with the centre before travelling.

समथ विपस्सना — Samatha Vipassanā

Ñāta-pariññā — “things to know before undertaking meditation,” the first teachings of the Mogok Vipassanā lineage.

This is the meditation manual taught at Bhikkhu Sadhana Sthal, compiled by Bhikkhu Candrabodhi and offered as dhamma-dāna — a free gift of the Dhamma. Read it online in full, with the original Nepali and an English translation side by side, or download the PDF.

Bilingual (नेपाली + English). The English is a working draft, shared for the centre’s review — a translation of the Nepali edition, not yet an authorized English version.
