Overview

The Everest mountain flight is a one-hour scenic flight from Kathmandu's Tribhuvan Airport that flies east along the Himalayan range, giving passengers a window-seat view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and several other 8,000m+ peaks. The plane flies at about 7,600m (25,000 ft), close enough for clear photography on a good day. Flights depart early morning (typically 6:30–7:30 AM) when skies are clearest. The season runs September through May, with October–November and March–April offering the best visibility. Monsoon months (June–August) have frequent cancellations due to cloud cover. Each passenger gets a window seat — the plane banks left and right so both sides get mountain views. Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines are the main operators. Tickets cost around $200–220 per person and can be booked through hotels, travel agents, or directly with the airline. Book at least a day ahead; flights cancel if weather is poor (you get a full refund or rebooking). The flight is suitable for all ages — no trekking or physical fitness required.
