Phewa Lake SUP & Kayak
Stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking on the iconic Phewa Lake.
Stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking on Phewa Lake is a relaxed way to spend a morning or afternoon in Pokhara. The lake is calm and flat in the early morning, ideal for beginners, and the Annapurna range and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) reflect off the water on clear days. Rentals are available from the lakeside and from boats near the Barahi temple island. Sessions are flexible — you rent by the hour (typically 1–3 hours) and paddle at your own pace. SUP boards and kayaks are available; life jackets are provided. The best time is early morning (7–9 AM) when the lake is glassy and the mountain views are sharpest. Afternoon winds pick up and create small waves, which is fun for experienced paddlers but less comfortable for beginners. No booking is needed for basic rentals — just walk up to the lakeside rental stands. Guided SUP tours with instruction are available if you want more structure. The lake is safe and shallow near the shore. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and a dry bag for electronics. This combines well with a Pokhara rest day between treks.
