Sarangkot Sunrise View
The premier spot for sunrise views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
Sarangkot (1,592m) is the premier sunrise viewpoint near Pokhara, offering a panoramic view of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and the Pokhara valley below. On clear mornings, the mountains turn gold and pink as the sun rises behind them. It is one of the most photographed views in Nepal. The viewpoint is about 30 minutes by road from Pokhara Lakeside. Most visitors leave around 4:30–5:00 AM to arrive before sunrise (which varies from about 5:30 AM in winter to 6:00 AM in summer). A short walk from the parking area leads to the main viewing terrace. There are tea stalls and small restaurants at the top. The sunrise itself takes about 30 minutes, and the views remain excellent for another hour after. The best months are October–November and March–April when skies are clearest. Cloud cover increases from June through September. No booking is needed — arrange a taxi or jeep through your hotel the evening before. Combine with paragliding (the launch point is nearby) or a short hike down to Pokhara for a full morning activity. Bring warm layers — it's cold at the top before sunrise, even in warm months.
