Trishuli Day Rafting
A gateway-friendly white-water day on the Trishuli between Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan.
Trishuli rafting is the easiest white-water day to fit into a Nepal itinerary. The river corridor runs along the main Kathmandu–Pokhara–Chitwan highway, so rafting can be added as a stopover between cities rather than requiring a dedicated detour. The rapids are Class III–IV in the main section, offering enough excitement for beginners without being intimidating. A typical day starts with pickup from a Kathmandu hotel around 7 AM, a 3-hour drive to the put-in point near Charaudi, 3–4 hours on the river, and lunch on a sandy beach. The trip ends near Mugling, from where you can continue to Pokhara or Chitwan, or return to Kathmandu. The season runs September through June; monsoon months are too high and fast. Operators like Paddle Nepal provide all equipment (raft, helmet, life jacket, paddle) and include a riverside lunch. No prior rafting experience is needed — guides give a full safety briefing and paddle commands before launching. Bring quick-dry clothes, sandals that strap on, and sunscreen. Book at least a day ahead; group sizes are typically 6–8 per raft.
