The Annapurna Circuit, long regarded as one of the world's great treks, has become a demanding mountain-bike expedition as jeep roads have pushed deep into the valleys. Ridden as a loop it circumnavigates the Annapurna massif, climbing from subtropical lowlands through Manang's high valley to the 5,416m Thorong La pass before descending the arid Kali Gandaki side past Muktinath and Marpha.
This is an expedition-grade undertaking. A significant share of the high section above Manang is hike-a-bike rather than rideable, the pass crossing is at extreme altitude, and acclimatization with a rest day in Manang is essential. The reward is a continuous Himalayan traverse few cycling routes can match.
Day structure, rideable-versus-portage proportions, and distances are indicative pending verified route data. Riders should plan around current road construction, weather windows, and altitude, and confirm details locally before departure.
