Lower Mustang offers some of Nepal's most dramatic riding, in the arid rain-shadow of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. The route threads the deep Kali Gandaki gorge from Jomsom, the regional hub and airport, up to the medieval village of Kagbeni, climbs to the pilgrimage site of Muktinath (3,710m), and returns via the whitewashed Thakali village of Marpha, famous for its apple orchards and brandy.

The terrain is rugged, dusty, and exposed, with strong afternoon valley winds that shape every riding day — most cyclists ride uphill in the calmer mornings. Sections of jeep road alternate with rougher tracks. Altitude near Muktinath demands fitness and a sensible acclimatization buffer.

This is a Trans-Himalayan expedition route: distances, surfaces, and the day-by-day line are indicative pending verified data. Confirm road conditions, permit rules, and flight schedules from Pokhara to Jomsom locally before committing.
