Champadevi is the prominent 2,285m hill rising above Pharping in the southwestern corner of the Kathmandu Valley. The summit carries a small shrine to the goddess Champadevi and a large Buddhist stupa, and the ridge continues westward toward Bhasmasur and Chandragiri — making it the anchor of an entire chain of day hikes along the valley's southern rim.
The area is rich in mixed pine and rhododendron forest, with clear 360-degree Himalayan views from the summit on cool mornings — Langtang, Ganesh, Manaslu, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri all visible. Spiritual traditions overlap: Hattiban and Pharping below are important Tibetan Buddhist retreat centres, and the summit shrine is a Hindu pilgrimage site.
Trails radiate from Hattiban, Pharping, Dakshinkali, and Taudaha, offering everything from steep direct climbs to gentle ridge traverses.

Know Champadevi better than we do?
We write from research and reporting, and the ground changes faster than we can keep up. If something here is out of date, or you have been and would tell it differently, we would rather hear it.
