Silu Yatra is the older Newar pilgrimage framing for the journey from Sankhu toward Gosaikunda. Rather than treating Gosaikunda only as a modern trek from Dhunche, this route preserves the cultural memory of devotees walking from the Kathmandu Valley through the Helambu-Langtang side toward the sacred lake.
The journey is demanding: it crosses high country, reaches 4,380 metres at Gosaikunda, and requires acclimatization, warm clothing, and current local route advice. It is most culturally resonant around Janai Purnima, when thousands of pilgrims travel to the lake, but weather, crowding, and altitude risk are also highest then.
Use Silu Yatra as a heritage pilgrimage route in planning content, not as a simple waymarked tourist trek. The exact stages should be verified before publication in detailed itinerary pages.

Know Silu Yatra better than we do?
We write from research and reporting, and the ground changes faster than we can keep up. If something here is out of date, or you have been and would tell it differently, we would rather hear it.
