Siddhi Narsingh Malla

The devout king who gave Patan Durbar Square its finest temples.

Share:

Siddhi Narsingh Malla ruled Patan through the first half of the 17th century and is remembered for a building programme of unusual refinement. His reign produced the stone Krishna Mandir, the Vishwanath Temple, and the exquisitely carved Tusa Hiti within the palace.

A famously pious ruler, he combined temple-building with a sophisticated palace water system — the Bhandarkhal tank and the sunken royal bath of Sundari Chowk both belong to his court.

The works mapped below are the ones securely tied to his reign; Patan Durbar Square as a whole, like the other royal squares, is a multi-reign creation.
